Research Data Base [ Dorn F, 1983. | Id:225 ]

Dorn F J, Brunson B I, Atwater M: Assessment of primary representational systems with neurolinguistic programming: Examination of preliminary literature. American Mental Health Counselors Association Journal 5(4): 161-168, 1983.

Abstract: Points out that it is imperative that the client's primary representational system (PRS) be accurately identified if neurolinguistic programming (NLP) is to be employed as an effective therapeutic strategy. Two methods that have been suggested for identifying PRS: One is the predicate usage method and the other is the eye movement procedure. The authors review the preliminary findings in the literature that have addressed the identification of PRS. Based on existing research, there does not seem to be a reliable method of assessing the PRS. Much of the research on NLP has combined social influence with NLP, either directly or indirectly.
