Wake L: Waking Up and Moving On - A Programme Evaluation of an Intervention with Adolescents Identified as at Risk of Offending Behaviour
Current Research in NLP 2: 43-53, 2011.
Abstract: This project reports on a pilot programme in Cardiff for adolescents identified as being at risk of anti-social behaviour and disengagement. This report provides an overview of the workshops and a summary of an independently conducted evaluation of the two-hour workshop, ‘Waking Up and Moving On’ (WUMO). WUMO links NLP tools and techniques to neuroscience theories of attachment and affect regulation. The aims of the project are to facilitate positive outcomes and change in attitude and self perception for participants. Stakeholders of the programme have given overwhelming support to the programme and consider WUMO has a beneficial role to play in meeting the needs of this disenfranchised group of young people. The programme is considered to be complementary to other interventions for vulnerable young people.
